Placing You at the Centre of Care

Prosthetics Clinic

Collaborative prosthetic care bringing rehabilitation and prosthetic expertise together to support your individual goals.

Hobbs Rehabilitation works collaboratively with specialist prosthetic providers to offer prosthetic reviews and assessments at our Bristol centre. These clinics bring prosthetic and rehabilitation expertise together, allowing your prosthetic needs, physical function and rehabilitation goals to be considered as part of the same appointment.

Depending on your needs, the Hobbs team and prosthetist may see you together, helping to provide a coordinated approach to your ongoing care.

How can collaborative prosthetic care support rehabilitation?

Bringing prosthetic and rehabilitation professionals together allows decisions about your prosthesis and rehabilitation to be considered alongside one another. This can help ensure that prosthetic provision supports your functional goals and that rehabilitation is adapted as your needs change.

Our prosthetic clinics can support people throughout their rehabilitation journey, from reviewing how a prosthesis is working to assessing changing functional needs. Joint reviews can consider mobility, balance, comfort, independence and everyday activities, with the aim of helping you get the most from your prosthesis and rehabilitation.

The clinics bring together a Hobbs Rehabilitation clinician and a specialist prosthetist where a joint assessment is appropriate. Initial prosthetic fittings and specialist socket work are undertaken by the prosthetic provider at their own facilities, which have the workshop facilities required for this. At Hobbs, the focus is predominantly on joint reviews, assessments and rehabilitation, with basic prosthetic repairs possible where appropriate.

We work collaboratively with specialist providers including Proactive Prosthetics and Dorset Orthopaedic.

Where appropriate, prosthetic appointments can take place alongside your rehabilitation at our Bristol centre, allowing the relevant professionals to review your needs together. This can reduce the need for multiple appointments and help ensure everyone involved in your care has a shared understanding of your progress and goals.
