Hobbs Rehabilitation is excited to announce the ‘Challenge PD’, a limited-time 10-week exercise program designed specifically for individuals with Parkinson’s. This intensive and rewarding program is ideal for those recently diagnosed or in the early to mid-stages of Parkinson’s.

The Challenge PD is structured as a circuit-based exercise class that includes five stations plus the innovative AR technology by Strolll. Each session begins with a 15-minute warm-up to prepare your body and ends with a 10-minute cool-down to ensure a smooth transition to your post-exercise state.

The circuit stations are thoughtfully designed to target common Parkinson’s symptoms such as freezing, stiffness, and slowness of movement. Participants will engage in chair exercises including the Sky Reach and Squat and Stop, which help improve upper and lower body strength. Band exercises like the Banded Side Step are included to enhance lateral movement and balance. Scarf exercises, such as the Scarf Snatch, incorporate fun and functional movements to improve coordination. The Spots station features exercises like the Penguin and Box Step to work on agility and footwork. The Hurdle station, with its Over the River exercise, challenges participants to step over obstacles, promoting better balance and coordination. Additionally, ball exercises such as the Overhead Ball Throw are included to build upper body strength and coordination. For added variety and challenge, participants will also use a balance board and a flat line to step over, further enhancing their balance and stability.

Benefits:

• Improve fitness, balance, and reduce symptoms
• Enhance confidence, mood, sleep, and motivation
• Learn management techniques to support you beyond the class

The PD Challenge is based on well-researched principles aimed at slowing Parkinson’s progression. Each class will not only address common impairments such as freezing, stiffness, and slowness of movement but will also include educational features to motivate and guide participants.
