TYMO®

Interactive, sensor-based feedback systems are transforming how balance, posture, and coordination are rehabilitated.

What is it?

TYMO is an interactive rehabilitation device developed by Tyromotion that uses a pressure-sensitive sensor plate to measure force and weight distribution through the user’s extremities. The system translates this data into visual feedback, allowing individuals to actively adjust their movements during therapy. TYMO can be used in sitting or standing positions to support training of stability, postural control, and coordination in individuals recovering from neurological conditions.
How does TYMO’s feedback-based training support motor relearning and functional improvement?

By providing immediate visual feedback on weight distribution and movement, TYMO encourages users to make real-time corrections during exercises. This promotes active participation, repetition, and task-specific practice, key principles of motor learning. Over time, this can help reinforce improved movement patterns, enhance postural stability, and support the development of more efficient and coordinated motor control.

TYMO for Balance, Postural Control, and Neurological Rehabilitation

TYMO is used in the rehabilitation of individuals with neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spinal cord injury. It supports the retraining of balance, trunk stability, and coordinated movement. In sitting, it can help develop unsupported sitting balance and trunk control, while in standing, it can assist with weight-bearing symmetry, stance phase control, and postural alignment. TYMO is suitable for both adults and children and can be integrated into a wide range of rehabilitation programmes.
TYMO operates using a pressure-sensitive sensor plate that detects force applied through the user’s body. This information is converted into visual feedback displayed in real time, allowing users to see how their weight is distributed and adjust accordingly. The system can be used with different exercises and attachments to challenge static and dynamic balance, encouraging controlled weight shifting, improved coordination, and active engagement during therapy.

At Hobbs Rehabilitation, TYMO can be incorporated into both outpatient therapy sessions and more intensive rehabilitation programmes. It is used as part of a structured treatment plan to support repeated, task-specific training under clinical guidance. Therapists can tailor exercises to the individual’s ability level, using TYMO’s feedback and adaptable setup to progressively challenge balance, posture, and coordination in a controlled and measurable way.
