New 10 Bed Inpatient Facility Launched in Salisbury

September 12, 2023

We are excited to announce the launch of our new inpatient facility at Laverstock Care Centre in Salisbury, in collaboration with local care providers Caring Homes. This dedicated rehabilitation unit comprises ten self-contained ensuite rooms, a spacious gym, access to outdoor areas, and a welcoming communal dining space.

Our recent Open Day was a resounding success, providing an excellent platform for our specialised neurological therapists to introduce the rehab facilities and advanced neurotechnology to a diverse audience, including Case Managers, NHS clinicians and commissioners. We were also delighted to welcome back one of our valued Hobbs Rehabilitation inpatients, Debbie, along with her husband Graeme, who was a powerful showcase of how funding and clinical excellence combined with true grit and determination by all involved can change lives. Scan the QR code to see her story.

Our service is founded on a multidisciplinary approach to neurological rehabilitation, led by experts in both neurological and intensive rehabilitation. Our team includes professionals in physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, rehabilitation medicine, clinical neuropsychology, and orthotics. This multidisciplinary approach is designed to empower each patient, by working together to set and achieve realistic goals, enabling them to reach their full potential on their journey to recovery.

Bespoke programmes are designed for each individual with up to four hours of rehabilitation therapy per day. Our multidisciplinary approach combines the use of a range of neurotechnology, alongside traditional hands-on therapy methods for integration of cognition, communication, motor and functional tasks. This intensity of high-dosage treatment maximises the opportunity for neuroplasticity and results in better outcomes and reduced long-term care requirements.

Suzanna Romancuk, a specialist neurological physiotherapist who will be based at Laverstock Care Centre adds “I am delighted to be involved with the Hobbs inpatient rehabilitation service at Laverstock. I have worked for 8 years for Hobbs and seen the incredible improvements that intensity and interdisciplinary working can make. Hobbs staff always go the extra mile to help patients achieve their goals. Catching up with Debs and Graeme has been wonderful, they are very much part of our Hobbs family.”

Fiona Roberts, Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist comments: “A fabulous Open Day at Laverstock Care Centre to launch our new 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit. Our guests were enthusiastic about our service and the neurotechnology. It was great to see Debs again, who was treated by Hobbs Rehabilitation’s inpatient team a few years ago. She had the opportunity to try the Luna EMG device and the Tyromotion OMEGO! Huge thank you to Caring Homes for all the work they have put in to transform the unit, to Stephen Ruffle from Thor Assistive Technologies  who came along to showcase a range of neurotechnology and finally the Hobbs team for making it such a successful event.”

We are accepting patients from Monday 2nd October, and currently have limited availability for additional patients to utilise the facilities and benefit from the specialist interdisciplinary therapy team throughout October and November. If you would like to refer, please email us at [email protected]. We accept referrals from Case Managers, medical professionals and self-referrals
