On Sunday the 18th of May, the Hobbs Rehabilitation team laced up their running shoes and returned to the stunning Broadlands Estate for the annual Romsey Relay Marathon, a much-anticipated event held each year to raise awareness and funds for vital causes and charities.
We have been participating in the Romsey Relay Marathon for the past few years, and this year had two teams of Hobbs colleagues, from across all our centres, running the collective 26 miles.

Like last year, we ran in loving memory of our co-founder, Nicky Ellis. Together with Helen Hobbs, she was instrumental in creating and shaping Hobbs Rehabilitation into the organisation it is today. Her passion for patient care, boundless energy, and unique ability to bring people together have left a lasting legacy.
That’s why bringing together a sense of community at an event like the Romsey Relay Marathon is so important. Our goal was to raise £500.00 on our Just Giving page and spread awareness for Ovarian Cancer Action, the UK’s leading ovarian cancer charity, and a cause close to our hearts. And we are thrilled to share that we surpassed that target, raising £550.00 in Nicky’s honour! A huge thank you to everyone who donated and supported us.
The day itself was filled with friendly competition between our team of runners, cheers from family and friends on the sidelines, and plenty of laughter.

“We had a great day, lots of hard work, sun and laughs! It was lovely to have a bit of friendly competition between the staff, family members and friends for a great cause. Such an inclusive event with an age range of almost 50 years in our teams! Nicky would have loved it.”– Louis Martinelli, Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist, Hobbs Rehabilitation
We’re already looking forward to next year’s event and continuing to honour Nicky’s incredible legacy.
