Placing You at the Centre of Care

Rehabilitation Medicine

Specialist medical expertise supporting complex rehabilitation, long-term recovery and quality of life.

Rehabilitation Medicine is a specialist medical service for people with complex conditions. A Rehabilitation Medicine Consultant works alongside other healthcare professionals to assess medical and rehabilitation needs, develop personalised plans of care and support individuals throughout their recovery and longer-term rehabilitation.

How does Rehabilitation Medicine support your wider rehabilitation?

Rehabilitation Medicine brings together medical management and rehabilitation to address the physical, cognitive and functional challenges that can affect everyday life. By taking a longer-term, holistic approach, your care can be reviewed and adapted as your needs and goals change.

Rehabilitation Medicine can support people with complex neurological and long-term conditions, helping to manage medical needs alongside rehabilitation. This may include supporting function, independence, communication, mobility and participation in everyday life.

Our Rehabilitation Medicine service includes assessment and management of complex neuro-disability, spasticity and severe drooling (sialorrhoea). Depending on your needs, this may involve reviewing medication, considering Botulinum Toxin treatment, discussing surgical options and working collaboratively with your wider rehabilitation team.

At Hobbs Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Medicine is integrated with our multidisciplinary approach to provide personalised medical and rehabilitation support. Our consultants can work with you from initial assessment through ongoing rehabilitation, collaborating with your therapy team and other healthcare professionals to develop and review your care plan over time.
