Due to the continuing growth of Hobbs specialist neurological services we are looking to recruit new staff to join our existing teams.
We are looking for skilled and dynamic Senior Specialist Neurological Occupational therapist, with a passion for neurological rehabilitation and clinical excellence in the following exciting development.
The role will include assessment and treatment for a caseload of neurological patients with both physical and cognitive impairments. The role will be within a very supportive MDT working towards a range of rehabilitation goals, participating in family meetings, MDTs and discharge planning.
We are excited to be setting up this brand new service in the grounds of the stunning Chedington Estate in Dorset. We will have a range of fully accessible, luxury independent living accommodation with state-of-the-art facilities, including gyms and hydro pools, with access to adaptive sporting opportunities across the estate. We will provide bespoke intensive rehabilitation packages to adults and children with a range of conditions, including brain injury, spinal cord injury, poly-trauma and amputation and other neurological conditions, utilizing the latest neurotechnology alongside clinical excellence in neurological and amputee rehab, and complimentary therapeutic activities such as massage and adaptive sports
We are looking for an experienced OT with an interest in this exciting area of rehab to join our existing team in developing this new service.

Hobbs Rehabilitation at Chedington, The Grange, Beaminster, Dorset, DT8 3SH
The successful candidate will work with clients in our inpatient setting predominantly but may have the opportunity to see outpatients as well as community patients.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assessing patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments using a range of formal and informal assessments.
• Practice safely within the legal and ethical boundaries of the profession.
• Formulate patient-centred goals in conjunction with MDT.
• Create and provide one-to-one intervention to patients with acquired physical and cognitive impairments, using a comprehensive knowledge of evidence-informed practice and treatment options.
• Evaluate patients progress using published outcome measures.
• Liaising regularly with the Hobbs MDT and wider care team.
• Organise and plan the MDT therapy caseload at Chedington Neuro rehab unit in conjunction with other clinical team members to meet the patients and service needs, readjusting plans as situations change or arise.
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate clinical notes using site-specific software and local procedures.
• Write high-quality patient reports, including MDT discharge reports for inpatients.
• Attend and contribute to patient and family meetings, both face-to-face and via video.
• Recognised degree qualification in relevant neurological rehab clinical specialism (e.g. Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Neuropsychology)
• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team
• Experience of working with patients with a range of neurological impairments
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – verbal and written.
• Excellent team working skills
• Good IT skills
• Clinical skills within the field of neurological rehabilitation – Knowledge and understanding of specialist neurological assessment and treatment approaches relating to acquired neurological conditions including spinal injuries.
• Commitment to developing self and others through training, supervision and mentoring.
• Ability to work flexibly and adapt to the changing needs of the service.
• Evidence of further specialist post-graduate study within the field of neurological rehab
• Experience of supervising and line-managing other staff – Experience of working in a leadership role – Experience of managing complex situations and dealing with conflict
• Enthusiasm for neuro-technology
• Innovative and creative thinking with vision to improve and develop services for the future.
• Confidence in engaging with external stakeholders
