Hobbs Rehabilitation Intensive Neurotherapy Centre
The post holder has responsibility to provide speech and language therapy for outpatients attending Hobbs Rehabilitation Intensive Neurotherapy Centre in Bristol, as well as local community visits. To be part of the wider SLT team offering clinical, educational or administrative support where necessary. To work with the wider MDT at Hobbs Rehabilitation. To assist in the development of the SLT service at Bristol.

Hobbs Rehabilitation Intensive Neurotherapy Centre, 80 Macrae Road, Ham Green, Pill, Bristol BS20 0DD
• Provide speech and language therapy for adults with an acquired neurological condition, with communication and swallowing impairments
• Work independently and be accountable for own professional actions and with clinical support when required
• Manage, with support, own caseload of adults with an acquired neurological condition with communication needs and/or dysphagia in a clinically autonomous manner by assessing, diagnosing, onward referring where appropriate, managing intervention and discharging, in collaboration with the Hobbs Rehab MDT
• Develop and implement Speech and Language Therapy treatment programmes for clients with communication disorders and/or dysphagia. To be accountable for ensuring others involved in the implementation of these are trained adequately
• Communicate complex information appropriately, and to provide detailed assessment reports and deliver clear interpretation of the results to team members, other professionals, clients, carers and family members
• Responsible for the use of specialised equipment in assessing clients with swallowing problems, for example, cervical auscultation, and the use of neurorehabilitation technology within the centre
• Work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team and to participate in specialist multidisciplinary/joint assessments and therapy sessions
• Maintain competence in assessing swallowing impairments
• Have an understanding of the latest in evidence based practice
• Participate in annual clinical audit
• Provide student observations and placements
• Attend team meetings and in-service training
• Adhere to professional guidelines and standards
• Participate in clinical supervision and offer supervision to more junior staff as the service grows
• Assist in the development and growth of the speech and language therapy service at Hobbs Rehabilitation in Bristol
• Identify the training needs of others relating to the communication and/or dysphagia needs of clients
• Participate in the development and delivery of clinical training to others
• Maintain up-to-date mandatory training under Hobbs Rehabilitation policy
• Join a team that represent The MiNT Academy and Hobbs Rehabilitation at conferences and events, delivering presentations to large audiences made up of clinicians, academics, designers and engineers
• Manage own time and be able to prioritise tasks
• Ensure client records are up-to-date and accurate in line with professional standards
• Complete client records using site-specific software
• Provide quotes for assessment and intervention, to case managers and the NHS, with support where necessary
• Registered member of RCSLT
• Registered membership of HCPC
• Recognised qualification and clinical licence to practise as SLT
• Experience of working with adults with acquired neurological conditions
• Specialist level of SLT knowledge, underpinned by theory and practical experience
• Competent and independent in assessing and managing dysphagia
• Experience of supervising others
• Excellent time management skills
• High level of written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent self-reflection skills
• Car driver and access to own vehicle
• Accredited (or similar) post graduate dysphagia training
• Experience of being involved in clinical service development/growth
• Experience in undertaking clinical audit
