What is the C-Mill VR?
The C-Mill is an advanced tool designed to enhance rehabilitation by improving functional balance, gait, and gait adaptability. It combines a treadmill with augmented and virtual reality, providing a safe and comfortable training environment. The C-Mill allows patients to train in scenarios that mimic everyday life, promoting functional independence. In addition to offering in-depth, objective assessments, it features a fall safety system or bodyweight support system, ensuring safety during training.
What is Augmented and Virtual Reality?
The C-Mill uses augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to enhance your rehabilitation. AR overlays digital images or sounds onto the real world, while VR immerses you in a completely virtual environment. These technologies help create more engaging and varied training exercises, tailored to your specific needs.
The C-Mill is an effective tool for treating a range of conditions that affect balance, gait, and mobility, including stroke and other neurological or orthopedic conditions. It’s particularly beneficial for conditions like stroke, enabling patients to work on balance, gait, and adaptability. The system uses augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to simulate everyday scenarios, such as walking among a crowd or navigating obstacles, helping patients regain functional mobility. Its ability to assess both static and dynamic balance and monitor gait patterns in real-time helps clinicians tailor rehabilitation programs effectively.
The C-Mill integrates augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) to create a dynamic and immersive rehabilitation experience. AR overlays digital images and sounds onto the real world, while VR fully immerses patients in a virtual environment. This combination allows for customised therapy that mimics real-life situations, such as walking through crowded areas or avoiding obstacles. The C-Mill also includes features like bodyweight support (BWS) for early rehabilitation phases, and precise data collection tools that track and assess patients’ gait patterns, balance, and overall progress, giving clinicians a clear picture of how the patient is performing.
C-Mill can be incorporated into your rehabilitation at either Hobbs Rehabilitation Intensive Neurotherapy Centre or Chedington. The C-Mill VR is available at the Hobbs Rehabilitation Intensive Neurotherapy Centre, while Chedington offers the first UK C-Mill VR+. C-Mill can be used as part of an intensive therapy package or integrated into your outpatient sessions, depending on your specific needs. At Chedington, you can also access the C-Mill on a day rate basis, providing flexible options for continued training. Your treating therapist will assess whether the C-Mill is appropriate for your rehabilitation during your initial assessment, and it will be considered throughout your stay to ensure it aligns with your rehabilitation goals.
