Robot-assisted therapy enables effective and intensive training by providing a high number of task-specific repetitions, which is an essential factor underlying neuroplasticity and improved functional outcomes. Lokomat therapy leads to clinically relevant improvements in patients with severe to moderate impairments in walking abilities and functional mobility.
Lokomat therapy leads to clinically relevant improvements in the following outcomes:
During rehabilitation, it’s important to gradually challenge patients based on their current abilities and push just beyond them. The speed, body weight support, and robotic assistance can be adjusted to match individual needs and make the therapy more effective.
Engaging, game-like virtual reality exercises help keep patients motivated to reach their goals. The level of effort directly influences how the task is performed, including walking patterns and speed. Research also suggests that combining robot-assisted walking training with virtual reality can further improve movement in the lower limbs.
Hobbs Rehabilitation is proud to introduce a world-class facility in Dorset offering intensive and advanced rehabilitation for adults and children, including the Lokomat®Pro. The offering includes high-intensity residential programmes where families and carers can stay together.
Our residential packages include accommodation for clients, carers, family, and friends, enabling whole families to stay together. The inclusion of families in the rehabilitation journey results in improved understanding and communication through shared experiences. Families tell us that being involved in the journey with the support of the interdisciplinary team enables them to move forward with a positive outlook.
Outings to the beach, dog walks across the estate, family cooking sessions, and more are all possible, enriching the rehabilitation journey and helping to unify an often fractured family dynamic. With accessible vehicles available at Chedington, there is the space, equipment, and expertise to safely support the client in discovering their true abilities.
At Chedington, Hobbs Rehabilitation can provide a special Day Package, which includes 4 hours of multidisciplinary therapy, lunch, access to all technology (including the Lokomat®Pro), and use of world-class facilities, including our hydrotherapy pools. Please note that external activities are not included.
