Andago V2.0

By Hocoma

Allowing patients to walk self-determined and unrestricted
What is Andago V2.0?

The Andago V2.0 is an advanced body-weight support system (BWSS) designed to assist individuals in improving their balance, posture, and weight-bearing abilities during overground walking and gait training. This state-of-the-art device supports users as they move across flat surfaces without the constraints of a treadmill, providing a natural walking experience. The Andago V2.0 is widely used in rehabilitation settings to help patients regain independent walking ability after neurological, orthopedic, or muscular impairments.

What is a Body-Weight Support System?

A body-weight support system helps reduce some of your weight while you walk, which helps you stay balanced and supports you during gait training. It also allows the intensity of the training to be adjusted by varying how much weight is unloaded. Using this system during overground walking training has been shown to improve gait function. Overground walking is important because it’s the ultimate goal of gait rehabilitation and encourages natural, voluntary walking.

The Andago is designed to help patients with gait and balance impairments who need overground gait training. It is ideal for individuals with movement difficulties or those at a high risk of falling, as long as there are no contraindications for using the device and any relevant risk factors are taken into account.

Key Benefits:

Improved Balance and Posture
The Andago V2.0 enhances stability and assists users in maintaining proper posture during walking exercises. Its intelligent design helps individuals practice walking with reduced fear of falls, promoting confidence and safe movement patterns.

Reduced Muscle Demand
By partially supporting the user’s body weight, the Andago V2.0 minimizes the physical strain on muscles. This reduction in muscle demand allows users to focus on coordinating their limb movements without excessive fatigue.

Increased Strength and Endurance
The Andago V2.0 enables users to safely perform repetitive walking exercises, which help build muscle strength and endurance over time. This strength development contributes to greater independence in daily activities.

Enhanced Walking Ability
The Andago V2.0 is highly effective in improving walking ability for individuals with conditions such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, or long-term neurological conditions. Its overground design provides a realistic training environment, allowing users to transition more easily to unassisted walking.

The Andago can be used in conjunction with your intensive therapy packages at Hobbs Rehabilitation Intensive Neurotherapy Centre or Chedington. However, it may not be suitable for everyone. Your treating therapist will assess your suitability for using neurotechnology, including the Andago, during your initial assessment and throughout your stay. As your rehabilitation progresses, your needs may change, making the use of neurotechnology appropriate at a later stage.
