“It turned my life upside down, going from the fittest I had ever been to paralysed from the neck down. I had to learn how to breathe, talk and walk again. Even day-to-day tasks, from getting dressed to making a simple meal, required significant effort and concentration.
During my rehabilitation, I worked towards a wide range of goals, including finger dexterity, hand function, core stability, walking, balance, proprioception, spasticity management, meal preparation, strength, returning to work and dressing independently.
The outcomes have had a huge impact on my independence. I am now almost fully independent, with improvements across every area I worked on. Mentally, I am in a much better place and have regained a sense of my ‘normal’ life again.”
