Using the ROBERT in Peter’s sessions has had a real impact on his confidence and ability to balance. The supported movement of the robotic arm, combined with repetition and auditory feedback, has helped him achieve far more repetitions than would have been possible without it.
It has also allowed Peter to focus more clearly on his posture and weight distribution, enabling his physiotherapists to make adjustments that wouldn’t normally be possible during traditional exercises.
Removing some of the personal effort from the task seems to have a positive psychological effect. The motivation to achieve the ‘ding’ sound becomes the sound of success.
These sessions have carried over into Peter’s walking, giving him the confidence to continue movement exercises at home as much as possible.
