At Hobbs Rehabilitation, we take immense pride in the sense of community and collaboration that defines our work. Recently, this spirit was beautifully showcased through our #Sing4Stroke fundraising event, an opportunity to bring together the creative minds of our therapists and patients to raise funds for the important and heartfelt Stroke Association.
Raising Over £300 for the Stroke Association
Chrissy Bibby, our Speech and Language Lead, organised a Sing4Stroke gathering at Hobbs Rehabilitation Winchester to raise awareness of aphasia, a language disorder commonly caused by strokes.
Aphasia is a language disorder that affects a person’s ability to speak, understand speech, read, or write. It is most commonly caused by a stroke, but can also occur due to head injury, brain tumour, or neurological conditions. People with aphasia may have difficulty finding the right words, constructing sentences, or understanding spoken or written language.
Our #Sing4Stroke event was a resounding success, raising over £300 for the Stroke Association.
This achievement was made possible by the generosity of our supporters, patients, and staff. We are deeply grateful to everyone who contributed, whether through donations or by participating in the event.
Chrissy had the honour of unveiling a new plaque from the Stroke Association. This plaque commemorates the success of our Sing4Stroke event, which highlights the impact we can make when we come together for a worthy cause.
“We were absolutely thrilled to be able to put on a successful Sing4Stroke singing event at Hobbs Rehabilitation in Winchester to raise funds for the Stroke Association. Steph, who leads my local choir, is just awesome, and led us all in perfect harmony with classics such as Sweet Caroline and Mamma Mia. The event highlighted how good singing is for the soul and even if communication is challenging after a stroke, singing enables participation and wellness. We are so pleased to have raised £300 for the charity.” – Chrissy Bibby, Speech and Language Therapy Lead
At Hobbs Rehabilitation, we have a dedicated team of Speech and Language therapists who provide dynamic treatment and management for people with speech, language, communication, voice, and swallowing difficulties. Combined with our neurotechnology and LSVT programme, our therapists provide holistic, personalised treatment packages for every individual, supporting them in their rehabilitation journey.
A key figure in the success of our Sing4Stroke event was also Steph, a friend and the lead of a local choir. Her leadership and musical talent brought so much energy to the event, and thanks to her, we were able to surpass our fundraising target.
